Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
sunday grind
When I want to feel sexy, I slip into a pair of fishnet stockings, a pair of tu-tone polyester lace bloomers, a tee with some seductive lace screenprinting, a mesh vest, a superfluous belt, half a can of blue eyeshadow, a lipstick mustache and two wigs. Mmm. Then I go land a husband.

Unfortunately, I was too busy speed-catalogging to get a more representative example of my ladyposing today (this is a picture of the photographer's computer screen). Before I even did the casting, my booker advised me that she was going to recommend me to the clients because they were looking for a model who knew how to do "a lot of big pose." I did 'em at the casting, and I did 'em for eight hours today, as the client stood off to the side exhorting me, "Bigger! Bigger!" Um. I'm already spreadin 'em far and flingin 'em wide! There's an anatomical limit to the size of a big pose!
Anyway, this is how I spent my day. In eyelet'n'denim one-pieces, acid yellow dukes, crimson split peasant skirts, metallic rompers with three belts, pink wigs. Dancin, leapin, throwin shapes, big posin. Dignified-like.

55 outfits. And I was probably in hair and makeup for two hours, so it was really six hours of big pose/speed-change outfit/big pose/speed-change outfit. With my iPod plugged in to the studio's (luckily!) boomin sound system, it was A-OK. It was a workout!

the best part: that dude is on his cellphone as he pedals his transport truck.

i hope those boxes are full of marbles. and then they topple over because he didn't tie those strap-down shoelaces tight enough. so he's biking down the street with his marblebox pyramid balancing above and behind him, and he's talking to his friend on his cellphone...

"yeah, Charlie, idunno...some days i feel kind of empty...you know, like my life has little substance to it...oh shit! marbles!!! THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!!! OH, THE MARBLE-RELATED PAIN!!!"

good morning. me tired

A thought inspired by ponedelnik's post; have you ever recognised a piece of clothing worn on the street as something you have big-posed in? Because those clothes that you are wearing there are pretty distinctive!

Ha, I guess that was a weird choice of words. It was MAC glitter pigment, which comes in a mini jar, and has the added bonus of being so strongly pigmented that the makeup artist has to remove it with packing tape lest it get wet, stain the skin indelibly, and inhibit the change from blue makeup to pink.

I went home with the pink makeup on and now, the next morning, I still have rabbity pink rings around my eyes.

That first pic is scary. You look like Tori "The Hutt" Spelling. Somehow, she did eventually land a husband, so there's still hope for you.

The second pic seems like some deranged update of Little Red Riding Hood crossed with a Macau hooker and Bai Ling. Wearing a (clashing) blue reticule doesn't make that outfit ladylike, nor do pearls that dangle like this headpiece did. I can't decide if that outfit would have looked better or worse had you remembered your thumb drive.

It's good to hear that all your splaying and spreading at the indoor ski slope were useful in the end. Even if only to extend the combi-short's reign of terror, in all-new cartoony hues.

The poor guy on the overloaded bike could use a few helping hands.

In housekeeping news, you've been so busy since returning to China that your computer is still on New Mexico time, and your new camera is still on its Canon defaults of maximum resolution but only moderate picture quality.

Esther, gong xi fa cai to you too! I heard my first fireworks two days ago...apparently once the 26th hits they won't stop for a week. I have to say, the new year music that's playing everywhere is FAR preferable to the horrible secular Christmas carols that were blaring during xmas. I thought if I heard "Here Comes Santa Claus" one more time I would claw my eyes out.

I just applied for a visa extension so I can stay in Shanghai another month! I hope the warm weather sticks around- it's 10 degrees right now, which feels positively balmy compared to last week when it was 0 every day.
